ABOUT VANESSA BARRERA
CANDIDATE FOR ALPINE BOARD OF EDUCATION
A Mom. A Neighbor. A Dedicated Advocate for Alpine Public School.
For the past 13 years, Alpine has been more than just the place I call home. It's where my family has grown, where my children have attended school since kindergarten, and where I've had the privilege of giving back to a community that means so much to me.
I'm a mom, an entrepreneur, a writer, and an active community volunteer. With two daughters currently attending Alpine Public School, I understand firsthand the importance of providing our children with an exceptional education and a positive, enriching school experience.
Over the past seven years, I've been deeply involved in our school community, including serving as President of the Alpine Home and School Association (HSA) from 2024 through 2026. During that time, I helped introduce new programs, revive beloved traditions, improve communication, encourage parent involvement, and develop meaningful fundraising opportunities.
I currently serve as Chair of the Alpine Recreation Committee and contribute to both Alpine Living Magazine and Stroll Alpine Magazine, where I write my monthly fashion column, The Style File. Most recently, I chaired the 2026 Alpine Masquerade Gala, bringing together families, residents, and local businesses in support of our school.
Through these experiences, I've built relationships with parents, teachers, administrators, and neighbors who share a genuine love for Alpine.
I'm running for the Alpine Board of Education because I believe in our school, value the voices of our families and educators, and want to continue making a meaningful contribution to its future.
At the end of the day, I'm simply a mom who loves her community, believes in our school, and wants to continue making a positive difference.

- Chair of the 2026 Alpine Masquerade Gala, a major school fundraising initiative
- Attended St. John's University, pursuing studies in marketing and advertising
- Entrepreneur and business owner, with more than two decades of experience in marketing, branding, event production, and business operations
- Experienced in fundraising, vendor negotiations, sponsorship development, communications, program coordination, and volunteer management
- Active supporter of school traditions, student enrichment, educational opportunities, and community partnerships
My professional background has given me practical experience managing budgets, coordinating teams, negotiating with vendors, developing communications strategies, and executing projects from concept through completion.
Combined with my years of hands-on involvement at Alpine School, this experience has provided me with a valuable understanding of our school community and the importance of responsible, collaborative leadership.
